Porirua is set to shine as we celebrate Matariki for 2025.
The night sky will twinkle once more inside Te Rauparaha Arena, with delicious hāngi, performances and interactive displays, while our harbourside has a beautiful light display planned.

A programme giving schools the opportunity to learn more about their local natural environment and the importance of healthy waterways is proving popular.
The Streamside Education programme, run by Porirua City Council Parks Education Advisor Natalie Packer, is flexible and can support what students are learning in the classroom.
Since launching the programme in 2023, Natalie has worked with students of all ages from across Porirua.
Wellington Waste Heroes is a Wellington City Council led programme helping schools learn about waste minimisation through performances, waste audits, tours to the Southern Landfill and OJI recycling facility. The programme has been running for two years, and includes specialist lessons the students and teachers can choose from like composting, love food hate waste classes, music videos, junk fashion and the science of plastic.
