The nearby Harbourside Pathway will be transformed with a spectacular outdoor lighting display, fireside stories and buskers. It’s all happening between 6-9pm on 28-30 June, between Wi Neera Dr and Parumoana St.

The Kūmara Awards have been held annually since 2020, awarded by Placemaking Aotearoa for projects that make a positive difference in public places and spaces in the Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch regions.

Porirua City Council is looking for artists for the next round of its public mural programme.

The programme commissions artists to design and create a mural that will be displayed in a public area in different neighbourhoods around Porirua. These are community projects and the local residents and/or businesses will select the designs to be created over summer

Grants available through Porirua City’s Young People’s Fund

Grants available through Porirua City’s Young People’s Fund

Porirua City Council’s Young People’s Fund is open for applications.

The fund is available for projects or initiatives that will have a significant impact on children and young people living in our city.

Funding available this year is for up to six grants of $6000 each, available as a one-off payment. Priority will be given for projects that fall into one of three focus areas: diversity and inclusion, the environment, and health and wellbeing.

Groups of young people can apply for funding with support from an organisation that will guide the project, such as a school or a local not-for-profit group.

Recognition for Porirua City harbour health project

A Porirua City project which aims to restore the health of Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour has been named a finalist in the 2022 Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) Awards.

It was launched in April, in partnership with Ngāti Toa and Sustainable Coastlines. Over 20 years Porirua City Council, in partnership with the programme, aims to plant more than 6 million plants on the banks of the 588km of streams that run into the harbour.
