Logan Brown Restaurant was founded on December, Friday the 13th in 1996

In 1996, Al Brown and Steve Logan collaborated to launch their own restaurant, which they named after themselves.

Their goal was to introduce a unique style of fine dining to the capital, infusing it with a distinct Kiwi touch. While maintaining elegant tablecloths, impeccably dressed staff, and artfully presented dishes, they discarded the haughtiness and snobbishness often associated with this type of dining.

Over the course of the subsequent years, Brown and Logan received countless accolades and gained international acclaim for their groundbreaking cuisine. One dish, the pāua ravioli, became iconic and etched itself into the memories of diners. This culinary masterpiece, a staple of the menu since the restaurant's inception, blends local seafood, Asian herbs, French sauce, and Italian pasta, taking patrons on a global gastronomic voyage through a single plate.

After twelve years, Al Brown departed from the business amicably as he pursued other ventures. However, Steve Logan persevered as the restaurateur and was joined by co-owner and head chef Shaun Clouston.

To this day, the restaurant remains dedicated to crafting an unparalleled, sustainable dining experience. They prioritise sourcing ingredients from local suppliers and take measures to reduce waste through recycling and energy-efficient practices.

Having lived in Wellington and visited Logan Brown a number of times over a different decade (mainly for special occasions and staff Christmas dinners) I can personally recommend you put this place on your own dining out bucket list.
